AmCham Mission to the United States.

BPO

The American Chamber of Commerce in Poland (AmCham) carried out a mission to the United States to meet with companies seeking business development opportunities in Europe and Poland. The delegation met with business representatives in Dallas, Texas and Denver, Colorado

.

BPO The delegation had direct meetings with ten companies from the following sectors: BPO (Business Process Outsourcing), IT, cosmetics, aviation and the automotive business. The BPO sector has been booming in Poland in recent years. Companies from traditional industries were encouraged to conduct greenfield investments. IT companies were mainly interested in IT competencies available in Poland.

“The general feedback was very positive. Companies expressed a lot of interest in Poland,” said Richard Lada, AmCham Vice Chairman. Some of the companies visited by the delegation are already active on the Polish market. Others are in the process of site selection for their next investment. The delegation tried to convince them to choose Poland as their next business destination.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Poland estimates that the mission has a chance to bring at least $10 million of investment in the next three to five years and create up to 1,000 jobs in Poland. “During the mission we began, or furthered, discussions about investment in Poland and the great opportunities here. We would not invest our time or our companies’ funds in this effort if we didn’t think it both effective and necessary,” said Tony Housh, Board Member at the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland. “Trade and investment doesn’t just happen, you need to go out and start the process with education, contacts and showing that you are yourself a believer in the Polish market and its potential,” he added.

The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) and the Ministry of Economy co-organized the mission. The result of direct meetings was to bring attention of corporate decision makers to Poland, which often was not necessarily taken into consideration when drafting strategic global business plans.

AmCham representatives also had a chance to speak during a panel at the World Trade Day organized by World Trade Center in Denver. During this event the delegation had a chance to meet with 400 representatives interested in transatlantic trade. Special guests included: Congresswoman Diana DeGette, European Commission Minister Antonio de Lecea and Colorado State Governor John Hickenlooper. The mission also met with members of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth, whose mission is to promote international awareness, understanding and global connections in North Texas.

AmCham, through its contacts, capabilities and human resources in Poland has a unique position to organize similar missions to the United States. The delegation included: Richard Lada (Vice Chairman, AmCham), Tony Housh (Board Member, AmCham), Dorota Dabrowski (Executive Director, AmCham), Joanna Bensz (AmCham Wrocław) and Robert Chomik (AmCham).

The American Chamber of Commerce in Poland was established in 1990. The aim of the Chamber is to actively promote American investment in Poland and other activities for the benefit of the business environment. There are over 320 members with American capital in AmCham, whose total investment expenditures exceed $20 billion and who have created over 180,000 jobs.
