CHICAGO COMMUNITIES BENEFIT FROM SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Launching a scholarship fund titled the Gina Buda Truck School Scholarship,” the institution has already begun awarding passionate individuals looking for a new career in the booming truck driving industry.

Gina Buda, President and Founder, felt the need to mark the occasion by publicly honoring the Chicago community. “It’s been an exciting journey to get to where we are now,” she said. “There are just so many amazing people that have helped us to get to this point. I wanted to show that we’re dedicated to the continued growth of the Chicago area.” Being a small business in Chicago for 40 years is quite an achievement.

Progressive Truck School maintained two locations in the Chicagoland area until opening a third location in Lansing, Illinois in 2008. “I wanted to use the scholarship to bring a legacy to the 50,000 students that have already graduated from here. I want to honor their passion for the open road and to give students who may not have the opportunity to pursue this exciting career a chance to achieve their goals.”

Becoming an active part of the Chicago community is a direction that Ms. Buda says was inspired by the students in recent years. “It’s important for institutions like Progressive to make an effort to help and guide people. Chicago is such a beautiful city and the people here deserve as much help as they can get in this struggling economy. Trucking can give them security, and through this scholarship fund, they can begin a career that will last them a lifetime and can be taken with them anywhere they go.”

This is excellent news for individuals looking to enter the ever-growing transportation industry or those who have always wanted to be paid to travel the country. With a projected increase of 330,000 new truck drivers needed through the year 2020 by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, the trucking industry is experiencing one of the largest booms in the nation. Trucking isn’t just an exciting career, but it is lifestyle, as well.

The Gina Buda Truck School Scholarship requires a short written submission that explains why one is passionate about beginning a new career. Scholarships are up to $1,000 each. Submissions must be received by October 31st. Restrictions may apply.
