Chicago: Larry H. Dietz, Ph.D., President of Illinois State University invited Marek Tukiendorf, President (Rektor) of Opole University of Technology to visit ISU campus and to meet with him and ISU leadership team to talk about development and continuation of their international cooperation.
The meeting took place on Thursday, April 28, 2016 in Normal, Illinois in President Dietz’ Office.
Both Presidents exchanged information about current academic developments in their schools. The Illinois State University is preparing for 157th Spring Commencement set for May 6, 7
Marek Tukiendorf presented a brief overview of developments taking place at Opole University of Technology for President Dietz and his leadership team.

President Dietz invited for a meeting his key leaders: Jay Groves, Chief of Staff, Office of the President; Salvatore J. (Sam) Catanzaro, Ph.D., Assistant Vice President for Academic Administration; Luis A. Canales, Ph.D., Director of the Office of International Studies and Programs; Deborah A. Garrahy, Director and Professor from College of Education; David Q. Thomas, Ph.D., Professor of School of Kinesiology and Recreation; Kasia Stadnik, PhD, former professor in the English Language Department who recently retired.
Marek Tukiendorf attended the event with Alina Mikolajczyk, ECC from Chicago, who helped in 2008 to establish cooperation between two schools; Anna Tukiendorf-Wilhite, TTI President from Chicago and Joanna Witos, HMSTC from London.
In October 2008 C. Alvin Bowman, at that time ISU President (2004-2013) and prof. Jerzy Skubis, President of Opole University of Technology signed Memorandum of Understanding about academic cooperation. Marek Tukiendorf was at that time the Vice-President of Opole University of Technology. Marek has been re-elected recently for his second term as university President. He is also representing 25. other Technology Universities in Poland on international level.
Many developments have taken place since establishing academic cooperation between these two academic institutions in 2008. Students, faculty from ISU traveled to Opole, Poland for academic exchanges. Faculty and students from Opole University of Technology have been travelling to ISU in Normal to study, learn, to make presentations and to expand academic cooperation.
President Larry Dietz has been leading ISU since 2014. He is very supportive for cooperation with other academic institutions.
One of the newest buildings at Illinois State University is the Kinesiology and Recreation Building that was opened in 2011. Marek Tukiendorf and his delegates got a tour around this facility and programs offered at the School of Kinesiology and Recreation. http://kinrec.illinoisstate.edu
Among students, faculty and administrators at ISU are number of the Polish Americans. There are about one million Polish Americans living in Illinois. The meeting of both Presidents is a new steps in the development of international academic cooperation between the Illinois State University and the University of Technology in Opole. Students and faculty from both schools will write new chapters in this promising academic cooperation.

ISU was founded as a training school for teachers in 1857, the same year Illinois’ first Board of Education was convened. Governor’s Rauner Staff Invited Polish Educational Delegation
Chicago: Kelley Folino, Deputy Chief of Staff for Outreach in the Office of Governor Bruce Rauner of Illinois and Kinga Aleksandrowicz, Outreach Coordinator Office of Governor Bruce Rauner, invited Marek Tukiendorf, President of Opole University of Technology and his delegation for a meeting in Governor’s Office to discuss academic developments between Opole, Poland and academic institutions in Illinois, specifically with the Illinois State University.
Kelley Folino, Deputy Chief of Staff for Outreach in the Office of Governor Bruce Rauner of Illinois invited Marek Tukiendorf, President of Opole University of Technology to share about his school cooperation with the Illinois State University.
Marek Tukiendorf attended the meeting in Governor’s Office event with Alina Mikolajczyk, ECC from Chicago, who helped in 2008 to establish cooperation between two schools; Anna Tukiendorf-Wilhite, TTI President from Chicago and Joanna Witos, HMSTC from London.
The focus of the discussion was about the academic exchanges between the Opole University of Technology and the Illinois State University since establishing cooperation in 2008 till present.
Marek Tukiendorf presented Governor’s Staff: Kelley and Kinga an overview of the cooperation.
Alina Mikolajczyk has been helping hundreds of the Polish American students, advising them, helping with academic evaluations for last two decades. Anna Tukiendorf-Wilhite is helping to meet growing American Society needs in training medical care professionals. They are based in Chicago.
Marek Tukiendorf expressed appreciation to Governor Rauner and his Staff for the invitation. He extended an invitation for the Governor Bruce Rauner and his staff to visit Opole and to attend 50th Anniversary of School in the Fall 2016.
