Polish-American Baseball Players Excel in Mid-American Conference

Dan Kopcak sat down all ten batters he faced in relief as Kent State nipped Ball State 4-3 in a Mid-American Conference Baseball Tournament victory at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon, Ohio.

CLEVELAND– Zarley Zalewski, Kent State; Pat Kaminska (Central Michigan), Alex Klonowski (Northern Illinois), Matt Pollock (Buffalo) and Zach Plesac (Ball State) were named as All-MAC in baseball for the 2014 season.

Zalewski is batting .362 on the year. The designated hitter started his sophomore season at a blistering pace with a batting average above .400 through the first 35 games.

Eastern Michigan University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Heather Lyke announced that Head Baseball Coach Jay Alexander will not be renewed for the 2015 season.

Alexander spent six seasons at the helm of Eastern Michigan’s baseball program finishing with a 159-182 overall record and a 74-88 mark in Mid-American Conference play. Before EMU, he had been head coach at Wayne State University.
