ACPC Poland Convention FAQ Answers

Selection of Warsaw
Warsaw was selected as it is centrally located with direct flights to/from major US gateway cities, including Chicago, New York and Newark. There are also major cultural attractions in Warsaw that may supplement our convention activities.

Selection of Hotel Bristol
Hotel Bristol, a Warsaw landmark dating from 1901, is centrally located next to the Presidential Palace on Krakowskie Przedmiescie and within easy walking distance of Warsaw’s Old Town. It has historic ties to many famous Poles, particularly Ignacy Paderewski, who was one of the original owners.

Convention co-chair Debbie Majka visited the Bristol in September, 2018 and toured the meeting and event facilities, which are most suitable for the Convention functions.

Time of Year
Although consideration was given to holding the convention in August, we were advised that hosting it in September would be more a comfortable for our members due to the cooler weather and fewer crowds of tourists.

After the Convention
Convention attendees are free to develop their own plans for visiting Poland at the conclusion of the convention sessions. They may opt to visit family, sightsee Poland on their own, or join an organized tour, such as the one hosted by Dave Motak. They need to decide which option suits their personal needs and schedule.

Tour Option
Dave Motak has been hosting cultural tours to Poland since 2004. In 2019 he will be hosting “The Many Tastes of Poland” Tour, September 7 – 22. Although this is not an official ACPC function, Dave has agreed to hold a limited number of spaces open for ACPC members who might wish to join the tour after the Convention business sessions.
The tour begins at the Hotel Bristol in Warsaw, Sunday evening, Sept. 7 and concludes at Hotel Andel’s in Krakow on Sunday, Sept. 22.
This tour is being run through Chopin Tours of Toronto, Canada. They are also available to make flight arrangements for Convention participants.
Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. As these tours are very popular, persons considering participating should register as soon as possible. For questions, please contact Dave at
[email protected] or Wanda Grzesik at 1-800-533-0369 / [email protected]

Flight Arrangements
Convention attendees are free to develop their own flight arrangements or work with a travel agency.
Wanda Grzesik, of Chopin Tours, will be making flight arrangements for several participating Board members and will be available to assist with flights as well as arranging for arriving guests to be met at the airport and escorted to the Hotel Bristol. Wanda can be reached at 1-800-533-0369 /
[email protected]Please note: If you opt to make your own flight arrangements, you should be prepared to find your own transportation from the Warsaw airport to the hotel.
