Chicago City Vehicle Sticker grace period in effect through July 15, online sales extended through July 7

This summer, motorists are again being granted a two-week grace period for Chicago City Vehicle Stickers. While the 2013-2014 vehicle sticker indicates an expiration date of June 30, motorists have until Tuesday, July 15 to purchase and display their new 2014 Chicago City Vehicle Sticker.

Due to quick processing times, the recommended last day to buy a Chicago City Vehicle Sticker online has been pushed back a full week from Monday, June 30 to Monday, July 7. All motorists who buy online via EZ>BUY by the end of the day on July 7, should receive their vehicle sticker in the mail by Tuesday, July 15.
“Just as we do every year, we are honoring the Chicago City Vehicle Sticker grace period through July 15. We want to make sure all motorists are aware they need to purchase and display their Chicago City Vehicle Sticker before July 16. We truly want to help people avoid tickets at all costs and the best way to do that is to get your vehicle sticker in the next two weeks,” Chicago City Clerk Susana A. Mendoza said.

“This year, online purchasing is an option for an extra week. We have never been able to recommend this service so late in the year, but, with our processing time being just three to five business days, we’re asking people to continue buying online through July 7.”

There is no extra fee for buying a Chicago City Vehicle Sticker online.

“We’re making fundamental changes to a 100-year-old program ensure this is the last time customers have to be inconvenienced by long lines. This is the time of year when the temperature goes up and the lines start becoming unbearable. But you don’t have to come to an in-person location and wait. EZ>BUY, our online sales app, is fast and you can complete your transaction from the coffee shop or your kitchen,” she said.
