On Thursday, December 6, 2012, the Images and Perceptions Diversity Conference, themed “Challenges and Commonalities,” in Partnership with the: Governor’s Office of the State of Illinois; New Americans Office of Policy and Advocacy; Mayor’s Office of Chicago; City Colleges of Chicago; University of Chicago; UofC Center for Middle-Eastern Studies; NAACP; and LA SED, will be held at the magnificent Alhambra Palace in Downtown Chicago, from 8:30 AM– 4:30 PM.

Legendary Hollywood Producer and Director, Asaad Kelada (“Two and a Half Men,” Dharma & Greg,” Who’s the Boss,” “One Day at a Time,” “Facts of Life,” “Family Ties,” “Sister Sister,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “WKRP in Cincinnati,” and “The Office”), will address the images Hollywood and the media portray, and present a rare view directly into the casting lens, along with an inside track of Hollywood’s depiction of our communities.

The Conference will also feature riveting presentations from: Reverend Dr. Wendell Anthony, President of the Detroit Branch NAACP; Guadalupe Lara, motivational and diversity and inclusion speaker of LA SED; Writer, Director and Filmmaker, Rola Nashef, will present a Conference special sneak peak clip of her 2012 movie debut of, “Detroit Unleaded,” Award Winner at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival; and a comedic performance by accomplished comedian, film, and T.V. star, Mike Batayeh, who has appeared in “Sleeper Cell,” “Jag,” “Everybody Loves Raymond,” “Breaking Bad,” and the Kiefer Sutherland show on FOX, “Touch.”

The Conference line-up will also feature: Guest Speaker, internationally renowned Washington DC Global South Professor Ambassador Dr. Clovis Maksoud, and distinguished Professor John Woods, PhD, of the University of Chicago, who will share a unique and thought provoking presentation on the evolution of images in the media.

The Conference will offer CDPU CREDITS (from the University of Chicago) to eligible registrants; special student and group discount rates; and Sponsorship opportunities with literature/information booths available.
