The Chopin Garden is a cultural project led by the non-profit Chicago Chopin Foundation in concert with the Grant Park Conservancy. The Chopin Garden will consist of a statute of Chopin within a serene garden landscape that will be activated by live music concerts. The Chicago Chopin Foundation and Grant Park Conservancy invite you, and your family and friends, on Saturday, September 13 at 11:30am to Grant Park to become familiar with the future Chopin Garden.
This unique event will take place at 11th Street and Michigan Avenue, a prestigious location for a project that needs your support to be realized.
We plan to carry out light cleaning, gardening, and beautifying the future Garden Chopin by planting wonderful flowers. Basic gardening tools will be provided by the Chicago Park District.
To support our enthusiasm, our sponsor restaurant, Sava’s Old Warsaw, will serve appetizing snacks, slices of juicy melon and water.
The artistic part component of the day will be performed by Slawek Maciejczyk on the organ. For this moment, we change the mood for a picnic and relaxation. It will be an opportunity to make friends with people who believe that the quality of our lives is determined not only by the material but also by art, culture, and the immortal music of Chopin. We encourage you to explore Grant Park, especially the adjacent sculpture installation, “Agora” by Magdalena Abakanowicz.
We do not anticipate parking to be a problem for there are several parking lots near the Chopin Garden with the nearest at Roosevelt and Michigan Avenue costing six dollars for four hours.
The Chicago Chopin Foundation and Grant Park Conservancy hope to have many people attend, creating a new tradition of outdoor concerts in the Chopin Garden.
During our event, participants will be informed about the challenge overcome in obtaining permission for the creation of the Chopin Garden in the heart of Chicago and about our plans for developing the project and mobilizing funds for this purpose. There will also be an opportunity to become involved in achieving this noble and much needed project. Let us use this extraordinary opportunity created by the enthusiasm and tenacity of the Chicago Chopin Foundation and the confidence that we obtained from city authorities. We have a unique chance to prove that dreams sometimes come true. Music lovers of all countries, unite!
