Homeless veterans receive holiday meal

A Safe Haven, accompanied by several volunteers, served a festive Christmas breakfast to homeless veterans Sunday morning.
According to A Safe Haven press release, 30% of homeless adults in the United States are military veterans.
“A Safe Haven has served over 500 veterans experiencing homelessness this year, and currently has 82 in residence, more than double last year’s count at this time. Since September 11, 2001, A Safe Haven has been increasing the services it provides to homeless veterans, including a brand-new site dedicated to housing veterans. A Safe Haven also provides one of the only transitional living facilities in Chicagoland where families can stay together while getting back on their feet, making this Christmas especially merry for homeless children at A Safe Haven,” according to the release.
