Point of View is the first solo exhibition of Irena Siwek’s work in Chicago.
For nearly twenty years, Irena Siwek has followed her passion for pen and ink drawings. Her distinctive self-taught perspective contributes to the creative authenticity of her work, which is intriguing, engaging and introspective. Subjects of marionettes, human and animal forms are reoccurring themes in Siwek’s work, through which she explores how we coexist within the world of interdependence.
This exhibition offers a unique view of an expressive impulse of an artist to break down the boundaries between an idea and a drive to create. Within countless hours spend in the repetition of line and its movement, her drawings transform dense graphical patterns by the use of kaleidoscopic arrays of forms: lines, objects, circles, dots and curves.

Irena Siwek
Irena Siwek was born in Poland and moved to United States in 1992. She studied at Dominican University (River Forest, IL) and received a Bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1997. Her work has been a part of many group exhibitions including the Polish Museum of America and it is well supported by private collectors.
