Fans of Special Olympics are forming teams to solicit duck adoptions in the 6th Annual Windy City Rubber Ducky Derby for Special Olympics Illinois. It’s a great team-builder for groups.
A team can be a group of friends, an organization, school or business.
Teams can register online and compete against other teams for prizes.
The race itself takes place on August 11 at 1 p.m. in the Chicago River at Michigan Avenue when more than 30,000 rubber ducks will splash down and race to the finish. First prize is a Chevy Cruze.
Duck adoptions are $5.00 each or a Quack Pack of six ducks for $25.00. For team registration or to adopt a duck, go to www.duckrace.com/chicago or call 1-877-9-SPLASH. To register a team, click on “Get involved.”
Special Olympics Illinois provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the state. The newest initiative is the Special Olympics Illinois Young Athletes program for children ages 2 through 7. Special Olympics Illinois does not charge athletes to participate in the program.
