The Society for Arts invites you and your Valentine’s guest for exclusive screenngs of THE HEART AND THE SWEETHEART, a new film by Jan Jakub Kolski on Sunday, February 8th at 3:00 and 5:00 PM. in Muvico 18 (9701 Bryn Mawr Ave. by I-90).
One of the most oustanding filmmakers in a contemporary Polish cinema (Johnny the Aquarius, The History of the Movies in Popielawy, Jasminum) is coming back with a beautiful, poignant story, full of love and humor, of Masha, an 11 year-old girl from an orphanage who loves ballet.
The first stage on her road to fulfilling her dream is the entrance exam to the ballet school in Gdansk. To make it there in time, she escapes from the orphanage, taking newly hired educator Kordula with her. They travel all the way across Poland, hiding from the police and meeting people who help them in need. A road film and modern-day fairy tale about dreams, courage and a meeting of two women, one an adult and the other a child, who long for love.
In a spectacular cast are many stars of Polish film: Julia Kijowska, Marcin Dorocinski, Borys Szyc, Gabriela Muskala, Maja Komorowska, Franciszek Pieczka, and Maria Blandzi as Masha.
The film received Chicago Film Critics Award at the most recent 26th Polish Film Festival in America.
The exclusive screenings take place in the most ellegant Chicago’s movie theatre Muvico 18 (9701 Bryn Mawr Ave. at River Rd. exit from I-90).
