University of Chicago Students and Aramark Dining Hall Workers to Hold Protest Rally

 

The dining hall workers have joined in solidarity with University students in the Aramark Worker-Student Alliance (AWSA), to demand a fair and decent contract. The Alliance, composed of over 80 active members, is a coalition of representatives from various student organizations and workers from every dining hall. Student groups involved include Organization of Black Students (OBS), Students Organizing United with Labor (SOUL), Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan (MEChA), Graduate Students United (GSU), STAND, South-Side Solidarity Network, Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and others.

 

The protest rally will demand that Aramark management offer a fair contract. Students and workers are protesting the degrading and insulting way in which Aramark treats its workers, and will continue fighting until Aramark makes offers a contract that allows its workers to maintain a decent standard of living.
