CHICAGO – The US-Hungary-Poland Forum to be held on May 19, 2011 at the Metropolitan Club will be one of the most significant conferences in recent years addressing issues related to trade and investment between the US and the EU, with a focus on Poland and Hungary, highlighting their role as European Union (EU) leaders in 2011. Speakers will include business, government, and academic leaders who have been active participants in, or intimate observers of, US-EU relations.

In addition to the Polish American Chamber of Commerce(PACC), organizational co-sponsors of the May 19 event include: the Polish Hungarian World Federation; the Hungarian Club of Chicago; the Hungarian Investment & Trade Commission, Chicago; the Trade and Investment Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, DC; the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago; US-Poland Business Council; Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce; the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity; and others.

The theme of Promoting Transatlantic Trade and Investment by Improving Europe and America‘s Competitiveness in the Global Economy will provide the focus of the general session and keynote addresses. A panel discussion will address market access, strategies, and business insight and opportunities resulting from both countries EU membership and their respective EU Council Presidencies in 2011.

Two American Airlines Round-Trip Tickets from the U.S. to Europe will be raffled off among Forum participants. Also, a post-event cocktail reception for Forum guests and attendees will be hosted by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago.

The Forum will bring together US, Hungarian, Polish and other participants for an important update, at a time when open discussion and strategic approaches are needed to stimulate trade and the economy.  “By participating in our event, US-based companies have an excellent opportunity to make business alliances and tap into emerging economic opportunities developing in the US-EU context,” says PACC director and Forum planning committee chair Anna Morzy of Fragomen. “In addition, the Forum will provide contemporaneous information on trade, partnership and investment opportunities in Hungary and Poland which are attractive gateways to both the EU, of which Hungary and Poland have been full-fledged members for several years, and the rest of Europe.”

“We are very pleased that the Consulate General of Poland and the Hungarian Investment and Trade Commissioner in Chicago have been among the earliest and strongest supporters of the event,” adds Csaba Zongor, president of the Polish Hungarian World Federation.

The Department of Trade and Investment at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington DC is an organizational co-sponsor as well, and has deemed the Forum important with regard to the development of Trans-Atlantic trade and economic relations.

The PACC and other organizational co-sponsors intend to make a significant contribution to helping identify new markets and new opportunities, with special emphasis on capitalizing on the Illinois-Poland and Illinois-Hungary partnerships. “We are confident that our previous achievements and expertise, coupled with sponsor assistance and participation will ensure the event’s success, benefiting the local business community, Poland, Hungary and the EU in general,” added PACC president Lucas Fuksa.

As the voice of Polish American business men and women, the PACC is dedicated to serving their best interests through education on current trends and facilitating commercial contacts. The organization is at the forefront at encouraging and promoting domestic and foreign trade to benefit its members, and to contribute to the expansion and integration of the Polish and Polish American business communities in the U.S. and abroad.
