President Barack Obama didn’t have an opportunity to welcome the 2010 Bears to the White House this year, given that the Bears lost to the Packers in the NFC title game.
But Obama has a consolation prize. He’ll host the 1985 Bears, 26 years after they won the Super Bowl with one of the best defenses in NFL history.
According to David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com, the ’85 Bears will visit the White House on October 7.
Per Kaplan, most of the members of the team and some members of the coaching staff and front office are expected to attend.
Kaplan says that the Bears did not visit the White House after winning the Super Bowl. When quarterback Jim McMahon won his second Super Bowl as a member of the 1996 Packers, he reportedly wore his Bears jersey to the White House.
Perhaps the bigger question is whether McMahon also wore pants.
