CHICAGO (November 5, 2013) –The Polish American Chamber of Commerce (PACC) announced recently that special guests at its next networking event will include Professor Tomasz Szapiro, Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics and Dr. Pawel Pietrasienski, Minister Counselor and Chief of the Trade & Investment Section at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, DC. The event will be held Monday, November 11, 2013, 6:00 – 9:00 pm, at the Copernicus Center Annex, 5214 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, IL.
While Dr. Pietrasienski has been a regular in Chicago and a frequent guest and supporter of the PACC, the November 11 event will be the first opportunity for Professor Szapiro to meet and greet members and friends of the Chamber.
Prof. Tomasz Szapiro is the Rector of the Warsaw School of Economics, and faculty in the Division of Decision Analysis and Support at the Institute of Econometrics. He is also former Dean of the WSE Graduate School. His degrees include: a MSc in Physics from Warsaw University, Poland, a PhD in Mathematics from the Polish Academy of Sciences, and habilitation and full professorship in Economics. He is also a professor at the Institute for Modern Civilization, WSE, and an adjunct professor of International Business Studies at the Carlson School of Business, University of Minnesota. His research interests focus on IT and Operational Research methods applied to Economy and Management. Prof. Szapiro has published two books and numerous monographs, articles and conference papers in Poland and abroad, and serves as a referee for first rank international research journals.
He has also worked as an expert for the European Commission, the Fulbright Commission, and for the Ministers of Finance, Economy, and National Education. He has received a number of awards for organizational and research achievements, as well as for excellence in teaching twice by students of the Canadian Executive MBA Program. Professor Szapiro has been recently involved in the research on the timely subject of economic aspects of privacy.

In addition to special guests’ remarks, the November 11 event will feature new member introductions, including Dr. Pawel Sliwinski of the PACC new gold-level member company INVESTcon Group SA from Poznan, Poland.
The short official program will be followed by an evening of networking. Light food and refreshments will be served as well; cash bar. Admission fee is $20 members, $30 non-members.
