Celebrating the Fortieth Anniversary Season (1977 – 2017)

 
Miami, December, 2016.   The Chopin Salon Series presents a piano recital by Katarzyna Popowa Zydron, an internationally acclaimed pianist, chair of the jury of the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, Poland, and a highly respected piano teacher.
 
Set against the backdrop of the lovely La Gorce Country Club on Miami Beach, the Chopin Salon Concerts are open to everyone and offer an intimate opportunity to experience today’s finest classical pianists in the company of a congenial group of Chopin music lovers.  Ever increasing in popularity, the last few Chopin Salon Concerts were sold out.  Early reservations are recommended.
 
The concert will be followed by a wine reception and optional dinner.

Internationally renowned Polish pianist KATARZYNA POPOWA-ZYDROŃ serves on juries of many international music competitions, including the 2015 International Chopin Piano Competition, where she served as chair. Since 1980 she has forged a distinguished career as an instructor, teaching some of the world’s most promising young pianists, including Rafal Blechacz, the top winner of the 2005 International Chopin Competition. Ms. Popowa- Zydroń conducts master classes in Poland and throughout the world, including Germany,  France, Bulgaria, Russia, Japan and Korea.  She also holds seminars and teaches courses to enhance the skills of piano instructors.
 
Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń has enjoyed a brilliant musical career marked by critically acclaimed performances all over the world.  Her versatile repertoire includes compositions from baroque to present day – with particular emphasis on the works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Robert Schumann, Frederic Chopin and Claude Debussy. She also appears as a chamber musician with renowned soloists and groups, including Urszula Krygier, Piotr Kusiewicz, Stefan Popow, and the Camerata quartet and she has performed piano duets with Waldemar Wojtal (1985-92) and Jan Kulesza (1979-83).

 

Ms. Popowa- Zydroń graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Gdansk, in Professor Zbigniew Śliwiński’s piano class. She continued her education in 1974-75 as a holder of an Austrian government scholarship in Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna in the class of Alexander Jenner. Her piano performance skills were perfected during master classes with Suzanne Roche, Dieter Zechlin and Georgy Sebok.
 
Ms. Popowa-Zydroń is the co-founder of the Gdańsk Society of Music Lovers (1996) and the ‘Musica nos unit’ International Chamber Music Festival. For her activities in the community, she has received the Duke Mściwoj Medal from the Gdańsk City Council. In 2004, she received a medal from the Poland’s Commission of National Education, in 2005, the Gloria Artis medal and the Commander’s Cross of Polonia Restituta from the President of the Republic of Poland.
