As a show of support, Chicago Mayor, Richard M. Daley issued a proclamation in celebration of the event.
“Generating new ideas, finding sources of funding and materials and preserving through difficult times, small business owners form a class of dedicated and creative individuals. Small Business Week honors the more than 27 million American small business owners who make up a vital part of our local, state and national economy. Through their efforts, they create important jobs and contribute to the city’s vibrant strong and diverse business environment.”
The City also extends its congratulations to the 2008 Small Business Award Winners who will be recognized at the 45th Annual Illinois Small Business Week Awards Reception:
