Employers to learn about the paradigm shifts in the healthcare system

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sixth Annual Healthcare Conference scheduled for May 20, 2011 at the Marriott Chicago Oak Brook from 7 a.m. to

4 p.m.

Oak Brook, IL – Illinois employers need to find ways to protect their bottom line against increasing healthcare costs and ever-changing, more stringent federal and state regulations.  To help businesses combat these expenses and keep up with the changes put into play by the ongoing implementation of the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), the Illinois Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Sixth Annual Healthcare Conference scheduled for May 20, 2011 at the Marriott Chicago Oak Brook from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The keynote speaker, Sue Podbielski, will describe how “business as usual” has changed for employers, individuals and the health care industry since the passage of PPACA.  She will explain what critical decisions are faced in the near and long-term, and how key stakeholders will need to work together to thrive in the post-reform environment.  Sue is the President of CIGNA’s Midwest Markets.

Additionally, Mark Shields, MD, MBA, FACP and Pankaj Patel, MD, MSc,  will explore the shift from a pay-for-performance to a pay-for-value health care model, and how a Clinical Integration Program rewards physicians for both improved patient outcomes and the extra work required to achieve them.  Dr. Shields is the Vice President for Advocate Health Care and Senior Medical Director for Advocate Physician Partners, while Dr. Patel is the Medical Director, Quality Improvement and Clinical Integration Committees for Advocate Physician Partners.

Also from Advocate Health Care and Advocate Physician Partners, Lee B.Sacks, M.D. will be speaking about the Clinical Integration model and how it provides the infrastructure for an Accountable Care Organization, the future of health care delivery.  Dr. Sacks is the Executive Vice President, Chief Medical Officer of Advocate Health Care and Chief Executive Officer of Advocate Physician Partners.

Breakout sessions will feature valuable information about:

  • Hot topics in labor and employment for the healthcare industry.
  • Understanding the new health insurance era.
  • Healthcare Reform: What does it mean for you and your family?
  • Getting Paid Claims to 11-26% lower than 3-5 years ago with no cost-shifting – What makes the difference?
