, Poland, August 24, 2011 –(PR.com)– Two senior ExxonMobil executives are heading up a high-level panel of industry experts at the upcoming European Unconventional Gas Summit in Krakow from 28-29 September. Public acceptance and assurance of the safety of the unconventional gas industry are just some of the market challenges that will be discussed.

ExxonMobil
Jim Johnston, Board Member, ExxonMobil Exploration & Production, Poland will be opening the conference on Wednesday, 28 September with a presentation on ExxonMobil’s experiences with community relations from their time working within unconventional gas projects in Poland. ExxonMobil is the world’s largest unconventional gas developer.

Axel Scheuer, Europe Regulatory Advisor, ExxonMobil Gas & Power Marketing will be joining the regulatory and legislative update panel discussion on Thursday, 29 September and will provide insights into ExxonMobil’s experiences in working with the authorities in Poland and around the world to develop unconventional gas safely and effectively.

Haynesville in premiere
Meanwhile, Zara Nathan, Conference Director of the European Unconventional Gas Summit, has announced that the European premiere of the acclaimed film “Haynesville” is to take place during the event, at 16h00 on 28 September. The film follows the historic discovery of the massive Haynesville Shale natural gas field in northwest Louisiana and its impact on the local people’s lives. The find is projected to hold 180 trillion cubic feet of gas or, in economic terms $1.75 trillion dollars worth of energy.

Says Zara: “This film is very topical for our summit, as major and independent operators are increasingly having to confront the non-technical challenges of communication and public relations because the environmental risks, such as the possibility of ground water contamination, posed by unconventional gas development have prompted an unprecedented media response and the public perception of unconventional gas development is at an all time low. ‘Haynesville’ has been lauded as a balanced look at how unconventional gas development has affected real people in the United States and we look forward to sharing it with our delegates.”

“The film provides a unique view into what it’s like to live through an energy boom and, in turn, what these resources could mean for our nation’s energy future.” Gregory Kallenberg, director “Haynesville – A Nation’s Hunt for an Energy Future.”

The European Unconventional Gas Summit will showcase leading examples of how to address public and political communication from industry experts including:

Florence Geny, Senior Business Analyst, Statoil
