The 96 member delegation headed by Lech Kaczynski with members of his government and civic leaders, were on their way to the Katyn Memorial Commemoration of almost 25,000 Polish soldiers who were executed by Stalin in 1940.
The plaque was unveiled by the guest of honor; Congressman Allen B West of Florida followed by a holy mass presided by Father Klemens Dabrowski. Congressman West made a moving speech about Poland. Prof. Dr. Zdzislaw P. Wesolowski, President of the Congress and Mr. Jerzy Bogdziewicz, the Executive Vice President welcomed Congressman West at a reception following the ceremony with a large congregation in attendance.
On May 10th at 2011, a holy mass honoring the victims will be presided by Archbishop Thomas Wenski at the Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Pompano Beach.
