Two high-dollar events are planned at Chicago restaurants — at MK Chicago and N9ne. A lower-priced event at Navy Pier will be the biggest. The Navy Pier event will include Rose, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 14 event at Navy Pier’s Grand Ballroom is billed as a “fundraising kickoff” for Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign, according to an invitation.
The fundraising blitz in Chicago will jointly support the Democratic National Committee and the Obama campaign.
Tickets to the Navy Pier event are $250 and $100, according to the invitation.
The invitation’s fine print said a donor’s first $2,500 contribution will go the Obama for America for the primary election, the next $2,500 will go for the general election and the next $30,800 will go to the Democratic National Committee.
The White House said Obama will travel Thursday to Chicago and spend the night there, returning to Washington, D.C. on Friday.
