Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski heads the Polish delegation on visits to Egypt and Tunisia
on 15-16 June 2011.
While in Egypt, Foreign Minister Sikorski is to meet for talks with Prime Minister Essam Sharaf and Foreign Minister Nabil el-Araby. In Cairo, the Minister will attend the signing of a bilateral agreement on cooperation in tourism and an inauguration of an exhibition “The Decade of Solidarity”. Later that day, the Polish Foreign Minister is to meet with Christian communities and representatives of political parties derived from the movement ‘Revolution of 25 January’.
While in Tunis, Minister Sikorski is to hold talks with Prime Minister Beji Caid Essebsi, Foreign Minister Mouldi Kefi, President of the Independent High Electoral body Kamel Jendoubi and Archbishop of Tunis Maroun Laham. The visit’s agenda also features meetings with representatives of the youth and the Minister’s lecture to Tunisian state officials, intellectuals and diplomatic corps on a new European neighbourhood policy.
During the Minister’s two-day tour of Egypt and Tunisia discussion will primarily be focussed on Polish and EU joint action in the states of North Africa, especially in the context of Poland’s takeover of the Presidency of the EU Council on 1 July 2011.
