WAILUKU HEIGHTS–  The cast and crew of “GET A JOB” will be at the Castle Theatre on Sunday, November 28, for the Maui premiere of the homegrown feature film.  This will be a one-night-only screening and celebration of the full feature comedy.  There will be a pre-screening reception in the newly renovated ‘Founders Court’ at 5:00 P.M.

In this hilarious film, William (Willie K) is a former musician and now successful employment agent.  His own career is in jeopardy when over the course of a week; he repeatedly fails to find work for Merton (Eric Gilliom).  Merton is a lovable local boy who surfs everyday in a spot where there are no waves.

Swimsuit model, Maya Iida, plays Gilliom’s love interest.  Currently she is an elementary school teacher in Hawaii and said, “My students love the music from the film, it rocks and they have all kinds of great questions about the production.”

Some of the soundtracks are featured songs from the Barefoot Natives.  Also, Hawaiian recording artist Amy Hanaiali’i sings Ave Maria in the film.

This spirited comedy is highlighted by appearances from an A-list of Hawaiian and world-renowned musicians, including Mick Fleetwood, Pat Simmons, Jake Shimabukuro and Henry Kapono as well as the antics of Augie T.  Longtime Wailuku, Maui artist, David Sandell has a recurring comedic part.

Maui native son and Director Brian Kohne said, “The time is right for Hawaii to unleash a project of this nature. We have the talent in front of the camera and the experience behind it.”  Producer Stefan Schaefer concurred, “The humor is presented in such a way, that it is accessible and universal to mainland audiences and international audiences alike.”

Tickets are $17 and the evening will benefit the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.  Also, non perishable food-stuffs for the Maui Food Bank are requested.
