Gordon Tech Rams Football Cruises to a 47-0 Homecoming Victory over the St. Joseph Chargers
The Gordon Tech Varsity Rams Football Team took on the St. Joseph Chargers on Saturday, September 10. The Rams came out with a bang, returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Jorge Garcia (Bride) went for 89 yards, which is the third kickoff return touchdown for the Rams this season. The Rams went on to score 41 points in the first half. The Rams amassed 286 yards on offense and the defense surrendered only 97 yards to the Chargers. Five different Rams scored touchdowns; Garcia, Julian Russell (Newberry), Steve Pittman (N.W. Institute), Jeffry Yacab (Jahn), and Habeeb Durojaiye (Hawthorne).
Gordon Tech’s next game will be against the Hales Franciscan Spartans at 1:00pm at Hales Franciscan High School.
Gordon Tech Rams Girls Volleyball Sweeps Willows Academy
The Rams defeated Willows Academy 25-15, 25-23 marking their 5th victory of the season. Gordon Tech featured new uniforms and the same winning mentality in the match. The Rams got large contributions from senior Jenny Carroll (St. Bartholomew) who led the Rams with 6 kills. Junior setter Tania Jarmola (St. Nicholas) led the Rams with 7 assists and 4 aces. Isabella Riley (St. Benedict) also added 5 kills in the win.
The Rams will take on Seton Academy on Tuesday, September 13 at 6:00pm. The game will be played at Seton Academy.
Gordon Tech Rams Boys Soccer Picks Up 1st and 2nd Victory of the Season
The Kicking Rams picked up their first two wins of the season this week. On Tuesday, September 6, the Rams hosted the Guerin Prep Gators at Horner Park. The Rams won a thriller, 1-0. The only goal of the game came from the foot of Yongje Kim (Lexington). The Rams kept the momentum when they took on St. Gregory Thursday, September 8. The Rams won 2-0 with goals from Pedro Bahena (St. Andrew) and Jonathan Guallpa (Albany Park). The assists came from Guallpa and William Gold (Chicago Waldorff).
The Kicking Rams next game will be against St. Laurence on Tuesday, September 13 at 4:30pm. The game will be played at Horner Park.
Gordon Tech Rams Cross Country Runs a Successful Invite
The Running Rams had a successful weekend at their home course at Horner Park on Saturday, September 10. The Lady Rams took 6th place over all. Jenny Haslwanter (St. Benedict) finished in 33rd place with a time of 23:58. Following Jenny were Alexis Gunnart (Alcott) in 34th place, Aixa Hernandez (St. Monica) in 38th place, Sarah Granberg (St. Hilary) in 39th place, and Alyciah Guitterez (Burley) finished 53rd. Each girl ran their best time thus far this season. The boys took 11th place overall. Leading the pack was Forrest DeCaluwe (Northside Catholic Academy) in 47th place. Following Forrest were Luis Covarribius (Our Lady of Grace) in 60th, Eric Reyes (Our Lady of Grace) in 71st, Ryan Valencia (Queen of Angels) in 79th, and Daniel Rios.
The Running Rams will compete again in the Oak Park River Forest Invite on Saturday, September 24 at 9:00am. The invite will take place at Schiller Woods.
