Miss New York–  Dancing has been her passion and it carried her to the new Miss Polonia Crown USA-2012 in Brooklyn recently.  With a full audience, Miss Polonia Michigan, Paulina Kowalczyk was named Miss Polonia USA-2012 at the Polski Dom Narodowy-Polish National Home.  Miss Kowalczyk, 19, is a freshman at Wayne State University in Detroit.

The last round had 10 finalists with three choreographed components that were judged.  In her on stage interview question, she was asked, “What place would you like to visit and travel to in the whole world and why?”  In front of a packed audience she said with a pause, “Why Poland, wouldn’t everyone?”

The response broke-up the crowd with laughter and bonded her with the spectators and the emcee.
Kowalczyk has studied Polish dance for the last 15 years.  She has been a longtime performer with two troupes in the Detroit area, the PNA-Polonie Dance and Song Ensemble and the PRCUA Wieliczka Dancers.

She participated in the 15th World festival of Polish Folk Dance in Rzeszow, Poland this past summer and performed in Krakow.

The dance tutorial is also credited toward a certification of Polish Dance Choreography – Studium Chreograficzne.  “It was my first time going to Poland and I met family and there is so much more to discover, I can’t wait to go back,” said Kowalczyk.
She received a scholarship stipend and the winner’s tiara as part of her prize package.
