NIU Football Featured on ESPNU All-Access This Week

DeKALB, Ill. – The No. 17 Northern Illinois University Huskies are the subject of the newest edition of “ESPNU All-Access,” a 30-minute show airing nationally this week on ESPNU focused completely on the NIU football team. The weekly show that gives college football fans an inside look at a “typical” day in the nation’s top football programs is scheduled to air Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. (CT) on ESPNU.

The show will re-air on ESPNU later Wednesday night at 10 p.m. CT (but is subject to be shortened due to the preceding live event) and again Friday, Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. CT.

A crew from ESPNU was “embedded” with the Huskie football team from sunup to sundown on Tuesday, Oct. 24 and the show chronicles a “mostly” typical Tuesday for the players, coaches and staff. The show also highlights the on-campus homes of NIU football, including New Hall, the Jeffrey and Kimberly Yordon Center and the new Kenneth and Ellen Chessick Practice Center. Although unplanned, ESPNU was in town and at practice the day that the Huskies worked out in the Chessick Practice Center for the first time.

In the unique all-access format, all narration is provided by the Huskies themselves as different coaches were wired for sound throughout the day.

NIU (8-0, 4-0 MAC) returns to action Saturday, Nov. 2 at UMass (1-7, 1-3 MAC). Kickoff is at 11 a.m. (CT) from Foxboro, Mass. and the ESPN Regional broadcast will air locally on WPWR MyNetwork TV in Chicago and on MyNetworkTV Rockford (DT2) as well as in 15 other markets throughout the Midwest and beyond. The game will also be carried on ESPN GamePlan and on ESPN3.
