“We currently have Polish participants from as far away as Gurnee, but our programs and most others are all held in Chicago,” said Kate Wilamska, a bereavement counselor for Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care. “The Mount Prospect area has a large Polish community and we want to bring this community closer access to grief support.
The Polish Support Group offers the chance for members of the Polish Community to come together and exchange stories, experience different monthly topics and find support for any loss of a loved one during the past two years. The group will hold its first meeting on Saturday, January 14 and will meet monthly on the second Saturday of the each month.
For anyone interested in attending, there is a $5 group fee which can be waived for someone experiencing financial hardship. To register, participants can call the Rainbow Hospice Polish Bereavement Support Line at 847-292-2342.

(Mount Prospect, IL) – Hospicjum i Opieka Paliatywna „Tęcza” zaanonsowało dzisiaj rozpoczęcie nowej grupy wsparcia w głównym budynku przy 1550 Bishop Court w Mount Prospect, Illinois. Nowa grupa ma na celu zaspokojenie potrzeb polsko-języcznych rodzin z północno-zachodnich przedmieść Chicago, które w chwili obecnej polegają na programach oferowanych w mieście.
„Polscy uczestnicy przyjeżdzają nawet z okolic Gurnee, a nasze i inne programy wsparcia dla osób w żałobie oferowane są głównie w Chicago,” powiedziała Katarzyna Wilamska, psychoterapeutka Centrum Wsparcia w Żałobie przy Hospicjum „Tęcza.” „Mount Prospect ma dużo Polskich mieszkańców, więc chcemy przybliżyć im dostęp do wsparcia w procesie po śmierci bliskich.”
Nowa polska grupa wsparcia na przedmieściach zaoferuje rodakom, którzy stracili bliską sobie osobę w przeciągu ostatnich dwóch lat, szansę na spotkanie, podzielenie się osobistymi doświadczeniami, oraz dyskusyjne tematy dotyczące procesu żałoby i osierocenia. Uczestnicy otrzymają wsparcie w atmosferze zrozumienia, akceptacji i szacunku. Pierwsze spotkanie grupy odbędzie się w sobotę, 14go stycznia, 2012, a dalsze sesje oferowane będą w drugie soboty miesiąca.
