Democratic elected officials and candidates will also be featured at this special Tenth Dems tenth anniversary celebration, at which Barbara Altman will be presented with the Founders Award, Marguerite Hampton will be presented with the Rosenblit Volunteer Award, and the Hon. Daniel Biss will receive the Mikva Leadership Award from the Hon. Ab Mikva.
Jon Carson is the former Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement and was President Obama’s National Field Director in 2008. President Obama described Carson as “one of the best organizers I have ever met.” Molly Ball of The Atlantic said that Carson has “an understanding of how Washington works and a deep facility with campaign mechanics.” Chicago Magazine called Carson “Obama’s most important man in Chicago.”
Carson also is a former Chief of Staff at the White House Council on Environmental Quality and was a member of the Obama Transition Team. He was Iowa Field Director for the 2000 Al Gore Presidential campaign and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras, building water systems for rural villages.
A native of Chaseburg, Wisconsin, Carson now lives in Highland Park with his wife and two children.
