U.S. Soccer to Host Three World Cup Viewing Parties at Grant Park in Chicago

“All soccer fans are invited to the event to celebrate the spirit of soccer and the U.S. team for these three important matches,” said U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati. “We hope these events will help connect the fans with the team and strengthen the bond between the two.”

Supported by the Chicago Park District and the Chicago Sports Commission, the viewing parties for the USA’s Group G opener against Ghana on June 16 and the U.S.-Portugal match on June 22 will take place at Arvey Field, near the Columbus Drive and Roosevelt Road intersection, in Grant Park. The Petrillo Music Shell at Butler Field, located near Columbus Drive and Jackson Street in Grant Park, will host the June 26 event around the USA’s final group match against Germany.

Each event will feature ESPN’s live feed of the matches displayed on a 19’-by-33’ high-definition screen and will include live look-ins on the fans gathered in Chicago.

“We hope the fans will come in record numbers and prove how devoted our fan base has become,” Gulati said.

Each viewing party will be accompanied by a U.S. Soccer Fan Fest area, which will be open for much of the day and where fans can come early and participate in a variety of activities. The June 16 event will feature a special musical appearance, which will be announced in the near future. U.S. Soccer merchandise and food and beverages will be available for purchase, as well as other limited-edition products. The Fan Fests will open starting at 12 p.m. CT prior to the June 16 and June 22 viewing parties and will open after the conclusion of the June 26 match.
