Unzipped is an exhibition designed to examine the changes in artistic perception and the creative process caused by geographical displacement. It focuses on the works of fourteen inspired, young Polish born artists who upon moving to United States became extensively “open” or “perceptive” to the ideas of their new culture and its existing art trends.
This show includes playful installations and creative expressions in painting, sculpture, photography and fashion. Unzipped clearly extends beyond the label ”Made in Poland”, exemplifying the artists’ connection with the American trends and new ways of thinking.
The show guarantees an exciting dialogue of color, texture and community by placing together in one room artists who work in various medias and represent different styles and techniques. The goal of Unzipped is to raise awareness of the talent of Polish born artists, both within the Polish and the American communities; as well, to develop the concept into an annual event which will grow in scope and attendance.
Participating artists include: Miroslaw Chudy, Dawid Czerniejewski, Malgorzata Czerniejewski, Magdalena Galecka, Renata Jaworska, Pawel Kupiec, Dariusz Labuzek, Andrzej Lawniczak, Magdalena Marczewska , Jolanta Izabela Pawlak, Agnieszka Podczaszy, AggaB Raya, Barbara Sawa, and Patrycja Wierzba, the curator of this exhibition.
