U.S. Treasurer headlines Smart Women Smart Money

Conference focuses on credit, budgeting and financing higher education

Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias’ office invites you to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Smart Women Smart Money by attending a money management conference Oct. 14 at the UIC Forum in Chicago.

Smart Women Smart Money keynote speaker Rosie Rios, United States Treasurer, will discuss the importance of financial empowerment for women and offer her secrets for success. Financial experts will share their knowledge and experience during breakout sessions that include:

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Using Credit Cards Wisely.

Long Term Care: What Does The Future Hold For You?

Putting Your House in Order: Creating Space and Systems For Financial Management.

In addition, sessions on managing family finances and saving and investing will be conducted in Spanish.

The purpose of Smart Women Smart Money is to empower, encourage and inspire women to take control of their finances as early in life as possible. SWSM does this by providing speakers, most of whom are women, who can provide practical advice and real-life examples of how women can budget, save and invest wisely.

The conference is free, but pre-registration is required. Online registration is available at www.treasurer.il.gov. Just follow the SWSM link on the Treasurer’s homepage.

SWSM is presented by Dollars and Sense Inc., a nonprofit organization. Major sponsors include COUNTRY Financial, State Farm and VISA.
