O’Grady stars as Emily, a woman whose comfortable life as a wife, mother and high school music teacher is turned upside down when she is diagnosed with breast cancer.  As she and her family cope with the expected changes her treatment brings, they also encounter unexpected results.  Inspired by the amazing women she meets at chemotherapy sessions, Emily is encouraged to recapture her lost dreams, coming to understand that it’s never too late to follow your heart.  In addition Emily, her husband (Shanks) and daughter begin to realize how they have drifted apart, and as each family member begins to contribute in order to accommodate for Emily’s illness, the family begins to heal its emotional wounds as well.

O’Grady, a multiple Emmy nominee, recently completed a stint on “Desperate Housewives,” and is best known for her roles on “NYPD Blue” and “Boston Legal.”  Never one to be typecast, she has been a doctor, judge, real estate agent, teacher, singer, single mother and more. 

A loving mother who gave birth to her first child at age 41 in 2004, O’Grady enjoys designing floral arrangements and is avid collector of items including snowglobes and Limoge boxes.
