Zalewski Premiere at 2026 “Arsenal Nights” Festival in Wrocław

The 29th edition of the Jan Stanienda “Arsenal Nights” [Wieczory w Arsenale] Chamber Music Festival will take place in Wrocław from June 26 to July 5, 2026. Hosted in the picturesque courtyard of the historic Wrocław Arsenal, the festival will present eight concerts featuring renowned soloists and the Wratislavia Chamber Orchestra under the artistic direction of Roksana Kwaśnikowska.

This year’s program spans several centuries of music, from the Baroque era to contemporary works, while also incorporating jazz-inspired performances. Among the featured artists is David Khrikuli, finalist of the 19th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition, who will perform Chopin’s Piano Concerto in F minor, Op. 21 in a version for piano and string orchestra. Among other works, audiences will also hear compositions by Henryk Mikołaj Górecki and Mikołaj Piotr Górecki, as well as the world premiere of Ignacy Zalewski’s Serenata disinvolta for string orchestra, commissioned especially for the festival.

Three concerts will focus on chamber music. Highlights include a performance by the Royal String Quartet with composer and soprano Agata Zubel, featuring music by Karol Szymanowski and Gustav Mahler; the festival debut of the Tansman Trio with pianist Tomasz Ritter; and a recital by pianist Krzysztof Stanienda, flutist Marianna Julia Żołnacz, and cellist Antoni Wrona, presenting works by Mieczysław Weinberg and others.

The festival will also celebrate the 95th anniversary of Krzysztof Komeda’s birth with a special tribute concert on June 28. Additionally, the Polyphonica ensemble will perform songs by Zbigniew Wodecki in arrangements by Paweł Głowiński on July 4.
