PILSUDSKI INSTITUTE TO BE LAUDED BY NY POLISH AMERICAN CONGRESS
As a historical memento to be preserved at the Pilsudski Institute of America, the Downstate New York Division of the Polish American Congress recently donated a section of the white and red bunting that decorated the speaker’s platform during a 1985 protest demonstration the Downstate Division organized and led in New York City. The demonstration supported Lech Walesa and the striking workers of Poland’s SOLIDARITY free trade union and was aimed at General Wojciech Jaruzelski, Poland’s Communist leader, at the time he came to visit the United Nations.
