Council of Educators Awards for College Students, announces an essay competition

A $1000 award will be given to a winner at a junior or senior college student in Illinois who has declared the field of education as a career choice.  Thanks to generous donors, additional prizes will be awarded to undergraduate or graduate students who may be in fields other than education.

  

Stanislawa Plichta Award    –  $1000 Vanessa Przybylo Kolpak Award    –       $500

L J Investments Award      –  $1000          Marlene Wilczynski Gill Award        – $500

Blessed Celine Borzecka / Mother Hedwig Borzecka, C.R. Award  $500

Sister M. Edward Gira, C.R. Award   –   $500  

 

The Award Ceremony will take place during the Polish American Heritage Month celebration

at Northeastern Illinois University on Friday, October 26, 2012.

Basic Eligibility Requirements

 

1. Applicants must submit a1000-1500 word essay in English on the subject:

“ Jan Karski, the Man who Tried to Stop the Holocaust ”.

2. Applicants must be U.S. citizens of Polish heritage or documented legal aliens of Polish heritage.

3. Applicants for the Stanislawa Plichta Award and the L J Investments Award may be Polish citizens.

4. Applicants for the Council of Educators Award must be juniors or seniors attending accredited

colleges/universities in Illinois full time, and have declared the field of education as a career choice.

5. All applicants must have good academic standing (G.P.A. 3.0/4.0).

They must submit a college/university transcript.

6. Applicants must submit the essay and the transcript along with a 3”x 5” card containing the following

required information:

Pen Name and Legal Name

Address and Zip Code

Phone Number and E-mail Address

Name of College or University, Year of studying

Field of education

7. This required information, along with the essay, should be sent to:

8. Finalists must attend a scheduled interview upon request.

9. Deadline: October 18, 2012.

10. Essays will not be returned. Previous winners may not participate.
