Ski jumpers from around the world will compete on Sunday, January 27 in hopes of capturing top honors at one of the world’s oldest continuous ski jumping facilities.
Along with top international champions from Norway, Poland, Finland and Ukraine, the local club has also extended its invitation to Slovenia, a country that has produced many world class jumpers as well as Olympic champions. The Slovenian team will arrive in Fox River Grove on Friday and promise to thrill spectators as they leap toward a new Norge hill distance record.
American jumpers have been training very hard and have no intention of the hill record belonging to someone outside the USA.
Norge ski club was founded in 1905 by a small group of Norwegian immigrants. The club has never cancelled a ski meet in its 108 year history. Norge was one of the founding members to establish the United States Ski Association and has placed many of its members in the Ski Hall of Fame in Ishpeming, Michigan.
On Saturday, Jan. 26 there will also be a junior ski jumping competition for jumpers under the age of 18 on several of the smaller jumps at Norge.
A pre-sale button allows a spectator admittance on both Sat. and Sun. On
both days, the jumping begins promptly at Noon. Pre-sale buttons are $10 and are available at several area merchants. If purchased at the gate on tournament day, the cost is $15. There are two bars set up as well as food concession stands. Children 12 and under are admitted free. Pets and carry-ins are prohibited..

Norge is located just 3 blocks north of Rts. 22 and 14 in Fox River Grove. There will be FREE shuttle service from Dominicks parking lot and in front of Tinman’s Pub. Also a shuttle will run from the Metra station to the jump. These shuttles will run on Sunday only and will operate from 11am. till 5 pm.
