AURORA— Applications for admission to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® Class of 2015 are now available online at https://www3.imsa.edu/admissions/apply.
Talented Illinois students enrolled in the equivalent of a ninth grade program are eligible for consideration to the three-year (grades 10-12) advanced college preparatory program. All students live on campus. Tuition and most room and board expenses are provided by state funds, however some fees are charged based on family income. An admissions application must be completed and submitted to IMSA electronically or postmarked no later than March 1, 2012. Students also can contact their high school guidance counselor or IMSA’s Office of Admissions at (630) 907-5028 or 1-800-500-IMSA to request a paper application, if internet access is not available.
IMSA’s advanced residential college preparatory program enables academically talented Illinois students in grades 10 through 12 to reach extraordinary levels of achievement. The Academy’s students are widely recognized by organizations such as the College Board Advancement Placement Program, The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek. IMSA’s innovative student inquiry and research (SIR) programs have enabled students to earn numerous awards from national and global competitions including Intel Science Talent Search, the International Physics Olympiad and the High School Mathematical Contest in Modeling. IMSA also was the nationwide winner of the Intel Star Innovator Award presented annually to a school that has a “comprehensive program incorporating innovative and effective use of technology, engaging parents in students’ education, fostering professional development and teamwork, and delivering consistent achievement of high academic standards.” The Academy also offers many fine and performing arts opportunities, 27 cocurricular activities and 18 interscholastic sports.
