Introducing the Inaugural Pulaski Day March in Historic Polonia

Pulaski

Bringing Back A Legendary Political & Polish Pride Tradition to Broadway Fillmore

Pulaski  BUFFALO, N.Y. For generations, the annual Pulaski Day commemorations down Broadway were a marquee event on Buffalo’s Eastside. From appearances by the late President John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, to participation by high-ranking state, county and city officials, the parade was a perfect platform to salute fighters of freedom, celebrate Polish heritage and to accomplish last minute October campaigning.

On Saturday, October 15, 2011, organizers will bring Pulaski pride back to the Historic Polonia District during the first Pulaski Day march down Fillmore Avenue. Historically, Pulaski parades have been celebrated across America during the first two weeks of October to commemorate the great patriot’s death.

The march will begin at the Adam Mickiewicz Library & Dramatic Circle at 4pm and travel one block south down Fillmore Avenue to St. Stanislaus Church. Immediately after the parade, non-stop polka music will begin at “SqueezeFest” inside the St. Stan’s Social Center. More than 500 people are expected at St. Stan’s for an authentic retro 1960’s polka party featuring the Buffalo Concertina All-Stars and the Full Circle Polka Band (www.SqueezeFest.com).

All are welcome to celebrate freedom fighter General Casmier Pulaski. Bring your flags, banners and signs to the Historic Polonia District. To participate, call Parade Chairwoman Jackie Schmid at 716-444-8693. More information can be found at
