Pianist Jacek Mysinski, Company pianist and soloist with American Ballet Theatre (ABT), will be a featured soloist in performance during ABT’s Chicago engagement at the Harris Theater, February 21-25. Mysinski performs the piano solo in Songs of Bukovina, choreographed by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky and set to excerpts from “Bukovinian Songs (24 Preludes for Piano)” by Leonid Desyatnikov. A Chicago Premiere, Songs of Bukovina will be performed on a repertory program on Thursday evening, February 22 and Saturday evening, February 24 at 7:30pm.
Acclaimed internationally for his imaginative, original and communicative interpretations, Mysinski was praised as “the future of Polish pianism” and his performances as “robust and captivating.” A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, Mysinski has won many prestigious awards and scholarships, including Vladimir Horowitz and J.S. & B.P Johnson scholarships, the Polish Ministry of Culture and the Frederic Chopin Society Artistic Achievement Scholarships, as well as Grand Prix at the Frederic Chopin International Piano Competition in Szafarnia and Grand Prix at the Polish National Competition in Plock, Poland.
Mysinski has appeared in performance at Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall, Museum of Modern Art, Peter J. Sharp Theater, Focus! Festival, Steinway Hall, Guggenheim Museum, Frick Gallery and 92nd Street Y in New York; Frederic Chopin Society and the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw, Poland, on a tour of Japan and numerous performances throughout the United States and Great Britain. He has collaborated with many accomplished artists and organizations, including Mark Morris Dance Group, Orli Shaham, Taylor Eigsti, Miranda Cuckson, Kinga Augustyn, Vasko Dukovski and Ismail Lumanovski, among others.
Mr Mysinski joined the music staff of American Ballet Theatre in 2016.
