The recent weekend Spring Board Meeting of the American Council for Polish Culture (ACPC) was hosted by the Polish Arts Club of Trenton, NJ. Led by the enthusiastic and energetic Club President, Mrs. Donna Chmara, the Council’s Board members enjoyed a very hospitable reception Friday evening, and a splendid working lunch on Saturday. The superb climax was the Club’s 62nd Annual Polonaise Ball and Scholarship Awards Dinner at the Trenton Country Club. Ceremonies included scholarship awards to eight high school graduates who will be attending a college or university this fall. Two distinguished Polonia activists in the region, Bozena Bienkowska and Karol Nawarynski, were recognized and honored at this event.

Reports From The War Front
Shortly after my prior column, An Exit Strategy From A Never Ending War, went to press, a good deal of reporting on the México vs. Drug War situation hit the Mexican press.
Keep in mind that that this is an opinion column and I am not a reporter (reporting on drug war issues can be dangerous in México). I do not mention names or the names of the drug cartels involved. My mama didn’t raise any fools.
Much of the reporting is concerned with the „Zetas”, (Los Zetas) who are a heavily armed and well trained paramilitary group that was originally formed from deserters from the Mexican army. Unlike your standard „enforcers” in this conflict, these people know their business. In addition, they are armed with the latest weapons and technology. In fact, they are armed better than any of the police forces in México and probably as good as the Mexican army. This includes such arms as AK-47 and AR-15 assault rifles, 50mm machine guns, grenade launchers, ground-to-air missiles and even helicopters. They are highly motivated and are known to have few limits for violence.
