Polska, the Green Island in Spring of 2012

Where there was brown and grey after the winter thaw, now there is green. Even the moon looks better in the spring. The storks return from Africa to entertain Poles everywhere. It’s spring in the green of the forests. Hence the new name for Polska, the “Green Island.”

Poland in 2012 is a beehive of economic progress with a projected 3.5% increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and current unemployment of 4%. (insert pictures of moon and stork here).

church Foreign and Polish investment, European Union (EU) stimulus infrastructure funding along with minimal agricultural price supports gradually change the landscape. New highways connect cities. Railroad stations have new facades; modern buses trail the roads. Remodeling of public and private building allow a twenty-first century look. Credit and modern banking and finances improved. Stadium investment for this year’s international soccer matches offer opportunity for the world to see Poland in new eyes.

Polish universities still are catching up with the learning leaders. Poland has challenges. The U.S. had 360 years to achieve its corporate and government mega machine. Poland, 22 years. Strains of Greek, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Irish financial folly weight the EU with trillions in debt. Much like the rest of the worldwide bank derivative crisis and U.S. mortgage debacle. Yet spring flowers eternal with hope of a better future for the Heart of Europe, God’s Playground, Poland. Krakow, the old capital is abuse with tourists, and even an interesting site of a Catholic nun on the bicycle. New tramways, buses, cars and trucks fill the highways.  (insert pictures of Krakow and nun here)

With the current low relative cost of food, clothing, housing, transportation, and essentials relative to the EU and U.S. life is more comfortable for the citizens and attractive to tourists today. Polish hardworking people lead Europe in growth and future potential. There is reason to believe this will be true for years to come given the highly educated populace, whom Pope John Paul II considered in his last visit the moral compass of EU.
