The Klementine Foundation from Poland calls on the Polish American community to support a Christmas campaign for the oldest and most isolated seniors

This Christmas, the Klementine Foundation aims to reach 600 lonely and impoverished seniors living in small towns and rural areas of southern Mazovia. These are people who often spend Christmas Eve alone — in silence, in cold apartments, living on pensions that do not cover even the most basic needs.

“Help ensure loneliness and poverty are not the only guests in seniors’ homes this Christmas.”
With this message begins the Foundation’s newest campaign video featuring:
Ewa – a woman who has experienced homelessness and is an actress by training,
and Eryk Kulm – a well-known Polish actor engaged in social causes. Through his artistic work, he brings Polish culture to international audiences. This year, he appears in a new production about Fryderyk Chopin, presenting Poland through the eyes of a global audience.

The spot is a moving reminder that kindness can come from the most unexpected places — and that no one should be alone for Christmas.

Who are the Foundation’s beneficiaries?

They are people in their 70s, 80s, and 90s, living in scattered, often isolated villages. They survive on very low pensions, have no close family, and often live in areas with little or no access to transportation. In winter, their world shrinks to four walls, and loneliness becomes as painful as poverty.

The Klementine Foundation has been working for more than 20 years and knows these stories intimately.
As one senior, Mrs. Zosia, says:

“I have been alone for many years. But on Christmas Eve, I always wait… because I know someone from the Klementine Foundation will come.”

A call to the Polish American community

For the first time, the Foundation is reaching out directly to the Polish diaspora — trusting in the solidarity and sense of community that connect Poles no matter where they live.

Every donation helps create someone’s Christmas.
Even 10 dollars makes a real and immediate difference.

You can also become a fundraiser and organize your own mini-campaign among friends — the Foundation provides ready-to-use materials and graphics.

We especially invite you to support the campaign on December 2 — Giving Thursday, a day dedicated to generosity and solidarity.

“No one should be alone for Christmas,” reminds Ewa, the main voice of the campaign

Her story offers a unique perspective: someone who has personally experienced homelessness speaks about the importance of seeing those who are invisible. Seniors — especially those in rural communities — are often among the most overlooked groups in society.
