New US ambassador to Poland appointed
Thomas Rose will be the new United States ambassador to Poland, President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social.
In presenting Rose, Trump wrote that he is a “respected businessman and commentator” who “has successfully hosted a radio program on Sirius XM for almost a decade.” He also mentioned that Rose was the publisher and CEO of the Israeli daily newspaper Jerusalem Post.
“He will make sure that American interests are represented in Poland and will always put America first,” the US president added.
During Trump’s first term as president, Rose served as an advisor to Mike Pence, then US vice president.
Rose is known for his pro-Israeli views. As a right-wing columnist, he recently criticized the Polish government, claiming that Donald Tusk’s government threatened to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister, on the basis of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he were to appear in Poland at the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. In the end, Netanyahu did not appear at the anniversary, and the Polish government had previously issued a resolution ensuring “free and safe access and participation in these celebrations for the highest representatives of the State of Israel”. Rose praised President Andrzej Duda for convincing the Polish Prime Minister to change his position on the potential arrest of Netanyahu.
The new US ambassador has also criticized the changes to public media introduced by the Tusk government in the past.
In December 2024, Rose met with Andrzej Duda. After the meeting, he referred to the Polish president as “America’s greatest friend in Europe”.
In a recent interview with wPolsce24 television, Rose said that President Trump had an excellent relationship with Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and President Andrzej Duda. “The Civic Platform government, on the other hand, must decide whether it wants to move closer to the centers of power in the EU – Germany and France, which may affect relations with the US, or whether it wants to remain a sovereign, proud country that fulfills its alliance obligations,” he added.
Rose will replace Mark Brzezinski as ambassador to Poland.
