The first week of October featured the culmination of festivities marking the 400th anniversary of the Polish presence in America. The vision and skill of the early Polish craftsmen and tradesmen among the colonists in Jamestown helped lay the foundations of modern America‘s economic growth and power, which in turn has been so supportive in positioning Poland as a free and independent state again. It was very fitting, therefore, that many members of our Chamber joined in the efforts of the Polish American Jamestown Committee, the PNA, the Consulate General of Poland, and others, to celebrate the anniversary.
As an organization, on Friday, October 3, we welcomed a special delegation from Poland, including Marshals Nawara (Malopolskie), Smigielski (Silesian), and other distinguished guests from their regions and from the Lodz, and Podlaskie voivodeships. Their visit and tour of HT Central Development, and the luncheon meeting at the Signature Room at the 95th, provided an excellent opportunity to network and focus on Chicago‘s Polish American community as a platform for cooperation between Poland and US to develop stronger business and trade relations.
