ANNUAL NORGE WINTER-2016

On Saturday, Jan. 30 and Sunday, Jan. 31 the village of Fox River Grove will become the international host as it has done for the past 110 years as ski jumpers from around the world gather in an attempt to capture top honors at the Norge Ski Jump International Winter Competition.

Ski jumpers from Slovenia, Finland, Norway, Russia and Poland will be on hand trying to make it to the winners podium at the conclusion of the first leg of competition in a grueling five hill meet beginning in Fox River Grove, then on to Westby, Wisc., next being Minneapolis, Minn., Eau Claire, Wisc. and then concluding way up in Ishpeming, Mich.

Heading up the American team will be Norge’s own Casey Larson of Barrington, IL. Larson will be competing later this winter at both the Youth Olympic Games as well as the Jr. World Games. As one of Americas top jumpers Larson will certainly give all of the European competitors quite a challenge if they are to have any hopes of collecting a share of the prize money.

This senior competition will take place on Sunday, Jan. 31 beginning at noon. There will also be a junior jumping competition on Saturday, Jan. 30, also at noon taking place on all of the Norge jumps featuring jumpers as young as six years old up to seventeen.

Admission is $15 which is good for both days. Buttons can be purchased in advance for $10 at many local area merchants. There are concession stands on the grounds as well as refreshment and adult beverage stands for those over 21. Please keep in mind…NO PETS and NO CARRY INS.
