On Saturday, January 27 and Sunday, January 28, 2024, the hills will come alive in Fox River Grove, Illinois, like they have for 119 years as the top ranked ski jumpers from around the globe gather to compete at the Norge Ski Jump.
Athletes from Poland and Ukraine, along with top jumpers from the United States, will all climb to the top of the 150 foot steel tower, strap on their jumping skis and come sliding down the breathtaking scaffold at speeds of between 40 and 50 mph! They are then lifted into the sky, maneuvering over 250 feet through the air in the hopes of achieving leaps that will land them in contention for top honors.
That will all take place on Sunday, with all the top guns in the sport competing.
On Saturday, a Junior competition will take place on the 4 or 5 smaller slides of different sizes to accommodate the various age groups. Young jumpers, starting from the ages of 5 or 6 and up to age 17 will compete.
The gates will open at 11 am on both days and the competition will start promptly at noon. There will be plenty of concessions as well as adult libations. Parking is free. No pets, sleds or alcohol will be allowed through the gates.
Pre-sale admission buttons are $20 at local area merchants or at the website below. (Also see the website for merchants selling buttons).
At the gate, admission buttons are $25.
