Among thousands of movies throughout the world nominated for the festival
this film received the Award of Merit and took second place at the Los
Angeles Cinema Film Festival of Hollywood.
Iwona Sadowska is the first Polish documentary director to have received such an honor. Of note is that the movie will also be shown at the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival, Hollywood Famewalk International Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Cannes Independent Film Festival, and the
Edinburgh International Film Festival. The film was also shown in London,
New York, Sarasota, San Diego, and San Francisco.
After the showing, there will be a reception and discussion around the film – meeting with Stan Borys, who will be signing a new CD.

We will celebrate and honor Stan Borys for 50 years on stage, and his 70th birthday, with the screening of the film “WOLNOSC JAK PLOMIEN” – Freedom Like a Flame. After the screening there will be birthday cake and a meeting with the artist.
Stan Borys has resided in the US for over 30 years. Now, he is coming to Syracuse to be honored at a meeting of his friends and loyal fans.
We invite you to a showing of the film in which he has the starring role. It is a documentary about his search for freedom in today’s world. “Freedom Like a Flame” (59 min.) has received several awards at prestigious film festivals in Hollywood and elsewhere.
Following the film there will be a meeting with the artist, who will sing a few of his songs and answer questions pertaining to the film.
