For the last one hundred eighteen years, the snow crews out at the Norge Ski Hill in Fox River Grove have done whatever it took to make sure that the ski jumping tournament would continue its 118 consecutive meets.
Whether that meant hauling snow down from Michigan on boxcars, hauling truckloads of shaved ice from the local ice skating rink, or even having to purchase blocks of ice from Jefferson Ice Co. which would be crushed and spread across the landing – the snow crews accomplished it!
According to life long member, Charlie Sedivec, Norge president Scott Smith refuses to be the first president to have to cancel the ski jumping competition which is recognized as quite a famous venue, hosting Olympians from around the world. Japan, Ukraine, Norway, Finland, Sweden, and Russia have all been a part of the competition.
There will be concession stands as well as beer stands and souvenir booths at the competition.
Pre-sale buttons (your entrance ticket) at a reduced price are available at local area businesses. To find a close location for the pre-sale buttons or to purchase online, just go to norgeskiclub.org. All the information you need about the tournament is available there as well.
The 2023 Norge Ski Jumping Meet will be held on Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 – both days begin at noon. Pre-sale buttons are $20. At the gate, you’ll pay $25.
