Quigley Travels to Poland
Quigley met with Polish leaders and U.S. troops
Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, released a statement on his recent visit to Poland. Quigley spent two days in Poland before traveling on to Kyiv, Ukraine. During his visit, he met with high-level Polish officials to discuss security in the region amidst Russia’s ongoing war. These officials included Poland’s Deputy Prime Ministers, the Minister of National Defense, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Ambassador to Poland. Following his stop in Warsaw, Quigley traveled to Rzeszow and visited U.S. troops with the 82nd Airborne Division.
“In Chicago, I am proud to represent a thriving Polish-American community who like Ukrainians, are deeply concerned about Putin’s aggression. During my visit to Poland, I met with Polish officials who shared critical insight into the impact this war has had on their own country and its people. I thanked them for their commitment to protecting Ukraine, including their early efforts to welcome Ukrainian refugees, and assured them that my dedication to helping Ukraine extends to Poland,” said Quigley. “Should Putin’s efforts in Ukraine succeed, Poland and other Eastern European countries will be vulnerable.
As a member of NATO, Poland is our ally who we have a duty to defend should Russia attack. It is critical that we avoid such a scenario from occurring in the first place. That is why it is vital Congress send additional aid to protect Ukraine, Poland and all of Eastern Europe from Putin’s threats.”
